Hezbollah official hails Russia pull-out from Syria

Deputy Secretary General of Lebanese Hezbollah Sheikh Naeem Ghassem on Saturday lauds what he referred to as 'Russia partial withdrawal from Syria.'

On March 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin, after reaching an agreement with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad, ordered the withdrawal of the main part of the Russian air force group from Syria, noting that it had generally completed the set tasks.

Commenting on the issue, Ghassem noted that the move would have no impact on the fight against the Takfiri, Daesh and al-Nusra Front terrorist groups.

The Syrian army is able to support the country's different regions and carry out operations in the areas that are under the control of Daesh terrorists, he added.

The official said that reducing the number of Russian troops in Syria would not affect the increasing power equation of the Syrian army and its allies.

Ghassem noted that the Herzbollah would continue its fight against terrorists stressing the need to find a diplomatic solution for the Syrian crisis.

'We also welcomed settlement of Syria political crisis within the framework of the Geneva peace talks,' he added. The Lebanese figure also called for settlement of Lebanon domestic crisis, adding the 'solutions must be permanent and not temporary' in this Arabic country.
